New Haven Library Achieves Fundraising Success With DonorPerfect
Since 1886, the New Haven Free Public Library has provided a helpful source of information, education, and recreation to all residents of New Haven, Connecticut. The New Haven Public Library Foundation was created in 2003 with the purpose of increasing public awareness for the library as well as promoting early childhood literacy and development that could not ordinarily be done through the regular budgeting process.
Business Challenge
The client needed new software with more flexibility in handling complicated gift and donor relationships, as well as the ability to accurately track and thank donors.
Clare Meade, the Director of Development at NHFPL Foundation, acknowledged their current software was a basic system and not sufficient for their needs, Clare stated “If we wanted to continue to fulfill our mission of supporting the public library, we needed to add functionality. We could not adequately track and thank donors for their gifts – the most basic responsibility of development effort. It didn’t allow you to post soft credits. Need I say more?”
Solution
DonorPerfect Fundraising Software
Clare noted, “We considered four other donor management systems, including an upgrade of the system we were currently using. We chose DonorPerfect because it’s a strong constituent relationship management system. Coupled with powerful reporting and analysis capabilities, and a decently strong online suite that becomes considerably more robust with some additional modules – DonorPerfect is one of the stronger overall systems on the market today.”
Key Results
Clare also gave very positive feedback in regards to the DonorPerfect support team, noting “DonorPerfect has a great support team that goes beyond the simple phone call to help. I even had a service rep send a follow-up email with an additional suggestion after the support case was closed out.”
Now, with DonorPerfect, Clare and her team can accomplish all that their mission requires including:
- Accurately track soft credits and gifts “In Honor of” and “In Memory of”
- Correctly reflect and analyze donor relationships
- Fully integrate and use online communication tools
- Easily process acknowledgment letters and gift receipts
- Successful event management
We’re now able to correctly track soft credits, such as gifts “in honor of” and “in memory of” an individual; correctly reflect and analyze donor relationships; fully integrate and use online communication tools such as Constant Contact; more easily process acknowledgment letters and gift receipts, and perform basic event management functions.”
