DonorPerfect launches new DP Address Updater feature

The DonorPerfect team has launched DP Address Updater, a new feature that performs nightly automatic updates for donors and other constituents in the United States, with data updates including addresses, deceased notifications, and publicly available demographic information. DP Address Updater, powered by TrueGivers, will help DonorPerfect users see better fundraising results for direct mail campaigns and provide essential wealth screening data to inform their major giving strategy.

In 2021, the United States Postal Service (USPS) processed approximately 36 million address changes – an 80% increase over 2020. DP Address Updater captures all address updates with a nightly data refresh, ensuring that DonorPerfect users have accurate and up-to-date information for direct mail appeals. This has the dual benefit of saving printing and postage costs by eliminating invalid addresses, and raising more money by making sure direct mail appeals reach as many interested donors and prospects as possible.

DP Address Updater performs nightly scans and updates for the following data points:

• Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS) and Delivery Point Validation (DPV) standardization of addresses to comply with USPS standards
• National Change of Address (NCOA) updates when donors move to a new address
• Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI) flags all addresses to indicate if the delivery address is a residence or commercial location
• Vacancy and other address services flags all records to indicate if the delivery address is mailable
• Deceased notifications for donors who pass away, including deceased date and whether it is an individual or household match
• Basic, publicly available demographic information, including income decile, net worth,homeowner, market value range, heritage, religion, business owner, and birth year

DonorPerfect users will have access to a dashboard that offers a big-picture view of results, updates, and estimated savings on direct mail costs. While updates are automatic, DP Address Updater users will have the option to revert entire syncs or single records to previous versions, and old addresses are saved as backups in constituents’ records as alternate addresses.
